Soma Suisan served its last meal on La Cienega Boulevard in West Hollywood on July 26. The Japanese restaurant is not closing for good. It is relocating to the fifth floor of Ovation Hollywood at 6801 Hollywood Boulevard, according to a license filing and an announcement from the restaurant.
The parent company is worth knowing about. Soma Suisan is based in Japan, where it has spent decades as a fish supplier, sourcing and supplying cuts to sushi bars across the country. The Los Angeles restaurant, which opened in 2025, was its first, and that sourcing pipeline is the point of difference.
The new address puts it inside Ovation Hollywood, the Hollywood Boulevard complex that has cycled through several notable restaurants on its upper floors. The fifth floor most recently held the Michelin-starred kaiseki restaurant Uka, which closed at the end of 2025 and has said it intends to reopen in a new venue.
No opening date for the Hollywood location has been announced. FJM will update this post when one is confirmed.
