Tucked into a quiet stretch of Yolanda Avenue in Tarzana, TLV Tapas Bar is proof that you don't need Melrose or the Westside to find some of the best food in Los Angeles California that can provide a genuinely elevated dining experience. This Mediterranean fine dining concept brings the energy of Tel Aviv's nightlife scene straight into the San Fernando Valley, pairing serious culinary craft with a sleek, contemporary space built for long nights and shared plates. The vibe is modern and polished, but the hospitality is warm, and every detail, from the lighting to the pacing of courses, feels intentional.

TLV Tapas Bar leans into a shareable, tapas-forward format, and the menu moves confidently between Israeli staples, Mediterranean classics, and unexpected raw bar and pasta additions. It's a kosher kitchen that never feels limited by that fact, instead using it as a jumping off point for bold, layered flavors.

The Spread

Dinner opened with the Jerusalem Bagel, served with za'atar olive oil, marinated olives, and tomato puree, a simple, warm starting point that set the tone for everything to follow. Right alongside it came the Hummus Msabbaha, a creamy garbanzo bean puree finished with sumac, parsley, and olive oil, silky enough to eat with a spoon.

The Arugula Salad brought texture and brightness to the table, built from fennel, pomegranate, beets, pine nuts, and mint, tied together with a sumac vinaigrette that leaned tart rather than sweet. I love salads and this was delicious!

From there, the menu took a sharp turn into indulgence with the short rib pasta, pappardelle tossed with green peas and mushrooms in a deeply reduced beef stock sauce, the kind of dish that reads Italian on paper but eats like comfort food regardless of label.

The raw bar held its own against the cooked courses. The Bluefin Crispy Rice paired crunchy sushi rice with spicy bluefin tuna tartare, a touch of ponzu, and sesame, while the Yellowtail Roll kept things fresh and clean with avocado, green onion, serrano, cilantro, and cucumber.

Two standout mains followed. The Grilled Seabass Roll came dressed with oyster mushroom, pilpel chuma, okra, and Jerusalem artichoke chips, and the Chilean Sea Bass arrived with charred baby bok choy, okra, sesame, and Persian lemon, a dish that balanced richness with acid in exactly the right ratio.

Dinner closed on the Arais, charcoal roasted ground beef and lamb studded with pistachios and wrapped in a thin flour tortilla, served with tahini, za'atar oil, and serrano. It's the kind of dish that demands to be eaten with your hands, and nobody at the table argued.
