Nancy Silverton's Spacca Tutto Is Open in Pacific Palisades

Nancy Silverton's Italian American steakhouse is serving. Spacca Tutto opened at Palisades Village in October, 108 seats inside the 3,500 square foot anchor space that used to hold The Draycott, and it is the first restaurant Silverton has opened west of the 405.

We previewed this one in August, when the center had reopened and the restaurant had not. It has now.

What Silverton Is Cooking

The menu pulls directly from chi SPACCA's butchery and wood-fire work, which is the reason to care about an Italian steakhouse in a shopping center.

  • Focaccia di Recco. The thin, crisp, cheese-filled flatbread carried over from chi SPACCA. If you order one thing, this.

  • The 50-ounce Creekstone porterhouse. Built for a table, not a person.

  • Australian Wagyu and picanha Dal Rae. The rest of the beef program.

  • Lobster Newberg and whole branzino. For the table that did not come for steak.

  • Nancy's Burger. Also carried over from chi SPACCA.

  • The sides. Creamed spinach with black kale and melted leeks, loaded baked potatoes, beefsteak tomatoes with olive pesto, grilled prawns and a Spacca Caesar.

  • Chocolate mousse to finish.

The Room

AvroKO designed it as an Italian conservatory crossed with a contemporary steakhouse: travertine, dark wood, burgundy banquettes, botanical artwork and custom lighting. A central bar connects the dining rooms, and a covered patio looks out over the village green.

Paul Pruitt of New School Hospitality, which partnered on the project, told the Santa Monica Daily Press what he is after. “I want this to be the living room for the neighborhood,” he said, describing a room guests walk into without a reservation or any formality.

Rick Caruso put the commercial case more plainly. “I know for a fact people from across the city are going to come here because of Nancy's food.”

The Context Nobody Should Skip

Pacific Palisades is still rebuilding after the fires, and residents are still coming back. A 108-seat steakhouse from a four-time James Beard winner is not a small signal in a neighborhood at this stage of recovery. It is also, bluntly, a destination restaurant placed inside a developer's retail property, and both of those things are true at once.
