The Last Canteen, a self-described immersive post-apocalyptic cocktail bar and restaurant, is open at 10964 Ventura Boulevard in Studio City. The venue confirmed on Instagram that it officially opened on May 22, 2026. Hours: Sunday through Thursday 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 4 p.m. to midnight.
A Wasteland Bar in Studio City
Studio City has spent the past two years leaning hard into experiential dining and drinking, and Ventura Boulevard now anchors one of the busier corridors on our new restaurants in Los Angeles roundup. The Last Canteen slots in on the more theatrical end of that trend, wearing its post-apocalyptic influences openly: styled as a bomb shelter, complete with a replica nuke on the ceiling, wasteland props scattered through the room, and a "doomsday phone" that rings at random through the night. The venue's language is unambiguous about how to dress: post-apocalyptic costumes, per its site's FAQ, are always welcome.
Two policies establish the room's rules. First, the bar is strictly 21+. Second, no weapons of any kind, real or prop, are allowed at any time, a policy the FAQ addresses twice.
Transit-Accessible for a Ventura Boulevard Concept
The Last Canteen is one of the few Studio City spots that meaningfully pitches itself as transit-accessible: it's a short walk from the Universal / Studio City B Line rail station and is served by Metro bus lines 155 and 240. The building is single-story with a shallow ramp at the entrance and two individual gender-neutral bathrooms. Fully wheelchair accessible, per the FAQ.
What We Have Our Eyes On
Per L.A. TACO's coverage of the opening, the kitchen is running theme-committed bar food built for group ordering. Standouts on the food side:
Cheeseburger with bacon jam
"Caesar's Legion" salad
Tinned fish
Bison chili
Mushroom skewers
On the cocktail side, the naming convention leans into the wasteland. Per L.A. TACO, standouts include:
"Soylent Green" (crème de cacao and crème de menthe)
"Gunsmoke" (scotch, whiskey, tequila añejo, prickly pear)
"The Smokescreen" (mezcal, Aperol, pineapple)
Carajillos and ice cream floats built on the house sarsaparilla
The concept-specific curiosity worth ordering first is the sarsaparilla on draft, which anchors the venue's non-alcoholic menu alongside seasonal mocktails, coffee, and soda per the site's FAQ. Daily happy hour runs 4 to 6 p.m. See the full lineup at thelastcanteen.com.
